The Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder has been quite simply superb this season.
Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo spoke to reporters after his side’s fine 3-1 win away at Everton yesterday, and provided an instant injury update on Ruben Neves, after the Portuguese was replaced by Romain Saiss after just 49 minutes of the contest, as quoted by the club’s official website.
The Black Country outfit have been in magnificent form this season, and they currently sit in seventh spot in the Premier League table, four points clear of eighth placed Watford.
One of the main reasons behind their successful campaign thus far has been Neves’s form.
The 21-year-old joined Wolves from Porto in the summer of 2017, for a fee believed to be worth somewhere in the region of £15.8 million, and he has gone on to establish himself as one of Nuno’s most important players.
The Wolves fans love him, as do his teammates and his manager.
Neves might be out of action for a little while, however, after limping off at Goodison Park yesterday, and Nuno delivered an instant reaction to the Portuguese’s injury, as quoted by the club’s official website:
“He had to go out, he was in pain and was not able to continue, so let’s assess him now. It was a kick.”
Nuno will be desperate to have Neves back and available for selection as soon as possible.
If Wolves are to finish inside the top seven, they will need a fully fit Neves firing on all cylinders between now and May, and the Molinuex faithful will be keeping their fingers crossed that the Portuguese ace’s injury isn’t a serious one.
