Tottenham Hotspur kick off their European campaign tonight.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side have travelled to Portugal for a Europa Conference League game against Pacos de Ferreira.

The Portuguese coach has already ruled out Joe Rodon through injury and with Cristian Romero not 100 percent fit, Nuno has a dilemma in regards to centre-back options.

And it seems plausible that Cameron Carter-Vickers could get a long-awaited comeback appearance for the Lilywhites.

Comeback

The USA international never featured once in a competitive game during Jose Mourinho’s reign in North London.

In fact, he hasn’t managed a proper game for the North Londoners since early in 2017.

Still only 23, Carter-Vickers has been loaned out six times since his last game in a Tottenham shirt but having featured in pre-season friendlies, Nuno, with his hands tied, may just turn to him today.

He has been linked with a permanent move away from Spurs and an injury could scupper that.

But unless Nuno wants to play and risk Davinson Sanchez and Eric Dier in a game like this, both of whom were outstanding in the win over Manchester City, then Carter-Vickers is a genuine option.
