Patrick Cutrone has scored one Premier League goal since joining Wolverhampton Wanderers from Serie A giants AC Milan.

New Wolverhampton Wanderers Signing Patrick Cutrone is unveiled at Sir Jack Hayward Training Ground on July 30, 2019 in Wolverhampton, England.

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Nuno Espirito Santo has admitted that Patrick Cutrone has performed well below his best since moving to Molineux from AC Milan over the summer, speaking to Sky Sports.

It is no secret that Wolves supporters were rather underwhelmed by a lack of marquee signings over the summer but even those who did arrive in the Black Country have yet to really make their mark.

Bruno Jordao and Meritan Shabani both suffered injuries on their debut while Jesus Vallejo has looked out of his depth since joining on loan from Real Madrid.

Cutrone, meanwhile, has found the net just once in 16 games in all competitions – and that single strike came in a 5-2 defeat to Chelsea.

Nuno left the Italian international on the bench during Sunday’s 1-1 draw at Newcastle United despite the fact that Wolves were pushing for a winner and, speaking on Tuesday, the coach has admitted that it will take time for the £23 million man to adapt to life in a new league.

“He’s integrating into the dynamic of the team. It’s not easy to be already where we expect him to be,” said the former Porto boss, while adding that he is hardly ready to give up on the youngster yet.

“It takes time but the best thing is he’s on to it, he wants it, he works hard. We’re expecting good things from him.”

Cutrone has looked desperate to impress so far, perhaps too much. The 21-year-old looks a bundle of nerves at times, often trying to do too much himself, and once he finds the net again we should see a far more confident and composed footballer.

This is a man who scored 18 goals in his first ever season as a professional with AC Milan after all. Clearly, there’s talent there.
