Wolverhampton Wanderers dropped two points on Saturday.
Nuno Espirito Santo has revealed to Wolverhampton Wanderers’ official website that he was unhappy with how disappointed his players were in the aftermath of Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Preston North End.
Wolves dropped two points at Deepdale as Nuno’s side needed a 61st-minute equaliser from Helder Costa to spare their blushes against 10-man Preston, who had John Welsh sent off two minutes earlier.
Despite having the guts of half-an-hour to find a winner, the Championship leaders failed to score a second and the Portuguese manager claimed that his players were downbeat afterwards.
Wanderers remain firmly on course to win automatic promotion to the Premier League, boasting an 11-point cushion at the summit.
And Nuno suggests there was no reason for his troops to be upset over the result.
“I’m not happy, I went to the dressing room and the boys are down and we don’t have to be,” he told Wolves’ official website.
“We have to be proud because we did everything that we could do in the game but we didn’t win today. Let’s try and win the next one.”
Nuno’s comments offer an insight into the team’s mentality. Even though Wolves are clearly destined for the top flight, the players still want to win every game nevertheless and the former Valencia coach has obviously managed to create a very determined attitude within the squad and deserves massive credit for doing so.
They’re a team who don’t seem willing to take their foot off the pedal and it’s testament to them.
