Nuno Espirito Santo spoke about transfers as Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly close to signing Aston Villa striker Tammy Abraham.
Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo has stated that ‘the work is done’ when responding to the club’s January transfer rumours.
Sky Sports are claiming that Wolves want to sign Chelsea loanee Tammy Abraham before their Premier League clash against Manchester City on Monday night.
The 21-year-old striker moved to Aston Villa at the end of August when Steve Bruce was still in the managerial hot seat before Dean Smith replaced him in October.
After Wolves knocked Liverpool out of the FA Cup, Nuno responded to the club’s transfer rumours, which were centred around Abraham as Villa fans would be interested in his comments.
“All these things about the transfer window I’ve already mentioned,” said Nuno, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail.
“The work is done. The transfer window exists, when things are done and when they are going to be announced I don’t know. At this moment it’s rumours.”
Abraham’s potential departure from Villa Park would be a body blow to Smith as he aims to win promotion to the Premier League.
The London-born player has netted 16 goals in the second tier of English football this season, including a brace during Villa’s 2-2 draw against QPR over a week ago.
If Abraham does move to Molineux then it will be his second loan stint at a Premier League club following his five goals for Swansea City last season.
Wolves are currently sitting in the top 10 in England’s top flight and are through to the fourth round of the FA Cup after that win against Jurgen Klopp’s side.
