Wolverhampton Wanderers earned a hard-fought point against Newcastle United last night.
Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo spoke to reporters after his side scored a last-gasp equaliser against Newcastle United at Molineux last night, and shared what disappointed him about their performance, as quoted by the club’s official website.
The Magpies took the lead early on in the second-half, but Nuno’s side kept asking questions, and finally got their reward in the 95th minute when Willy Boly headed home an Adama Traore cross.
Wolves have been mightily impressive this season, and they currently sit in seventh spot in the Premier League table, two points clear of eighth placed Watford, and qualification for the Europa League seems to be a genuine possibility for them.
When speaking to reporters, however, Nuno admitted that he wasn’t entirely satisfied with his team’s display last night, suggesting that they need to be far more clinical in the final third, as quoted by the club’s official website:
“It came late but the performance deserved goals. We produced, we combined and created situations, but the final touch was not there. It’s something we must improve and be more clinical, the game required that kind of quality of the players. We were not so clinical today. Creative, but the final pass, the final touch was not there, we must improve, we must play much better.”
Next up for Wolves is a trip to Bristol City in the FA Cup on Sunday, before they return to Premier League action with back-to-back away games against Bournemouth and Huddersfield Town, and Nuno will be hoping to see big improvements from his side over the next few weeks.
