The Wolverhampton Wanderers forward suffered an ankle injury last night.
Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s comfortable 3-0 win over Reading last night, and admitted that he is worried about Diogo Jota, after the Portuguese picked up an ankle knock, as quoted by the Express & Star.
Lat night’s win was a huge one for the Black Country outfit, especially with Aston Villa losing at home to Queens Park Rangers, and they now sit 10 points clear of Steve Bruce’s third placed Villa side.
Jota moved to the Molineux from Atletico Madrid on a season long loan in the summer, and has played a key role in Wolves’ impressive form so far this term, chipping in with 13 goals and five assists in 37 Championship outings thus far.
Nuno addressed the media after last night’s game, and explained the reasoning behind bringing the 21-year-old off after just 25 minutes, as quoted by the Express & Star:
“We are worried. We know Diogo, When he cannot go on the pitch it is because he is in pain. He has pain. Let’s see what he has. But the squad is there. We will see the report – I’m not a specialist!”
Next up for Wolves is another home game on Saturday, this time against Burton Albion, and a victory really would cement their place at the top of the table, and put them in a great position from which to achieve promotion back to the Premier League.
