The Wolverhampton Wanderers winger has been inconsistent this season.
Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo spoke to reporters in the aftermath of his side’s 1-1 draw with Preston North-End on Saturday, and insisted that Helder Costa still needs to get better, despite scoring the equaliser for his side at Deepdale, as quoted by the Express & Star.
The Black Country outfit saw their lead at the top of the Championship table cut back to 11 points after Saturday’s draw, but they will still be extremely confident in their chances of earning promotion back to the Premier League.
Costa joined Wolves on an initial season-long loan deal in the summer of 2016, before making his switch a permanent one in January 2017, and he really impressed during his first season at Molineux, chipping in with 10 goals and eight assists in 35 Championship outings.
The Portuguese winger hasn’t had quite the same impact this term, however, racking up just three goals and four assists in 22 league appearances thus far.
Nuno addressed the media after his side’s draw with Preston, and highlighted how Costa must strive to do better, and continue making improvements, as quoted by the Express & Star:
“He’s getting there, you know what I think about that, he has to get better. He is getting better. The goal is one specific moment, we look at his tasks and he’s doing well.”
Next up for Costa and co is a home game against Norwich City in the Championship on Wednesday night, and the Portuguese winger will be looking to follow up Saturday’s fine performance with another one, as he looks to find the form that saw him take the league by storm last season.
