Tottenham Hotspur head coach Nuno has told Football.London that Emerson Royal needs to improve his English.
Nuno has also suggested that the Brazil international right-back needs to mingle more with his new Tottenham teammates.
Emerson is hanging out with his Brazilian compatriot Lucas Moura mostly, according to Nuno.
The 22-year-old right-back joined Tottenham from Barcelona in the summer transfer window.
Nuno told Football.London about Emerson: “He’s a good player. He’s very talented. He showed himself in La Liga, which is a tough competition.
“We signed him because we believe he can help us. He’s an offensive full-back. He has aspects to improve and that’s our job.”
The Tottenham head coach added: “He has settled in well, he has to improve his English. He only hangs around with Lucas at this moment, which is normal, but he has settled in well.
“He is a good player and the way the group is operating any player that joins us is integrated well because the boys are aware that everybody should feel comfortable and in a nice environment so Emerson is okay.”

Take Nuno’s advice on board
Emerson is a very talented and promising young player.
If he wasn’t, then Barcelona would not have signed him.
However, the youngster needs to take Nuno’s advice on board.

Nuno himself is from a foreign country, and the Portuguese will know fully well the importance of speaking in English while working in England.
Of course, Emerson should be given time and must be afforded patience, but it is also important on the youngster’s part to do his bit.
It is great for Emerson that he has a fellow Brazilian in Lucas in the squad.
That will help him settle into life in England better, and perhaps we will see the right-back hit the ground running at Spurs.
Emerson scored one goal and gave four assists in 34 La Liga appearances for Real Betis last season, and made three appearances in the league for Barcelona this campaign before his move to Spurs.
