The injuries continue to mount for Sheffield Wednesday despite the Owls’ nine-game unbeaten league run.
Steven Fletcher is the latest to fall victim, having been forced off during Saturday’s draw with Derby County.
And the striker’s omission from the latest Scotland squad – named earlier on Tuesday – suggests he won’t be fit to face Bolton Wanderers on Tuesday.
With Lucas Joao having struggled for fitness of late, Fletcher’s place is likely to go to Atdhe Nuhiu – who performed well during his cameo at Derby – although the recovering Sam Winnall is also an option.
Elsewhere, Bruce is likely to favour a settled side, as he has done throughout his short reign as Sheffield Wednesday manager.
However, he could be tempted to bring back Marco Matias after George Boyd again failed to make a positive impression in the number 10 role last time out.
Matias has received only a fraction of the opportunities given to Boyd since Bruce’s arrival, although the Portuguese’s understanding with Nuhiu could work in his favour should the Kosovan make Bruce’s starting XI.
