David Nugent was unable to score on his Derby debut against Leeds.
Leeds United were last week beaten to the signing of David Nugent by Derby County, with the striker clinching a £2.5 million move from Middlesbrough, The BBC reported.
The Sun had reported a fortnight earlier that Nugent was interesting Leeds, and he was even open to a switch.
But did Garry Monk’s side really miss out?

The stage was set on Friday for Nugent to deliver a cruel blow to the Whites’ promotion hopes, as Derby visited a Leeds side which had to pick three right-backs in their back four due to injuries and suspensions.
Nugent scored in Middlesbrough’s win over Leeds last season, but he started on the bench for Steve McClaren’s side.

With Leeds holding a 1-0 lead, there was understandably nervousness around Elland Road once Nugent was brought on in the 68th minute, but he never looked close to scoring.
Nugent managed only two touches in 22 minutes, with no shots on target, failing to make any sort of impact.
Derby fans can relax in the knowledge it is way too early to judge an experienced goalscorer who was given no service, but at the same time, Nugent did not exactly convince Leeds supporters the club had made an error by not bidding big for him.
Here is a look at how they reacted to his performance…
