Tottenham Hotspur allowed Alex Pritchard to join Norwich City for a fee of £8.5 million last summer.
Norwich City director of football Stuart Webber has recently told the Eastern Daily Press that the club now value Alex Pritchard at £20 million, which suggests Tottenham Hotspur may have sold the youngster too cheaply.
Tottenham agreed an £8 million fee for Pritchard last summer (Sky Sports), but one good year in the Championship has seen the attacker’s value more than double.
“If in the event someone did come for our highly-talented ones it is going to cost a hell of a lot of money,” Webber said, when asked whether he could sell Pritchard this summer.
“At that point we have to be realistic. If a top 10 Premier League club come for one of our players and offer us £20m no-one is stupid enough to say we can turn that down.”
Pritchard’s pathway to Tottenham’s first-team had been blocked, so there have to be questions asked over whether he would have been worth so much if he had stayed at White Hart Lane.
However, Spurs may be ruing the decision to allow Pritchard to leave permanently, rather than sanctioning a loan move.
Pritchard has proven his quality time and time again in the Championship, and has shown some very encouraging signs at Norwich.
The 24-year-old has six goals and claimed nine assists in his first campaign at Carrow Road.
And, although Spurs have generally been very astute with player sales in recent times, Pritchard may be one player who they regret allowing to leave.
