Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is ‘now ready’ to start playing a lot more regularly for Liverpool.

The former Arsenal player, a £40 million signing in 2017 [Guardian], has barely featured for the Reds this season.

Oxlade-Chamberlain has only managed 14 minutes of football due to injury and hadn’t kicked a ball for Liverpool since March prior to the defeat by Nottingham Forest last month.

Klopp has been burdened by a crisis of injured midfielders but the German manager has said that the 29-year-old is ready to be involved regularly again.

He told Liverpool’s website: “Oxlade[-Chamberlain] is now ready for the league as well, so we have a couple of players who can play there.

There’s no doubting Oxlade-Chamberlain’s talent and even though he’s 29 now and had his fair share of injuries, at least he’s another option for Klopp.

The Liverpool boss has been forced to include teenagers in his Premier League squad this season, like Stefan Bajetic, and that illustrates how desperate he’s been for numbers.

But with Oxlade-Chamberlain and Curtis Jones back, and Naby Keita not far behind, well that ought to ease the former Borussia Dortmund man’s worries somewhat going forward.

Liverpool beat Napoli in the Champions League last night and are now gearing up for a clash with Tottenham Hotspur this weekend.
