Fabrizio Romano might have some positive news for Arsenal supporters about reported Aston Villa target Yves Bissouma.
Earlier in the week, Calciomercato reported that the Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder is ‘destined’ to join Arsenal.
However, Aston Villa have also been linked with the Mali international.
And with Steven Gerrard being arguably the world’s finest midfielder at one point, Villa could be considered a genuine threat to the Gunners.
But Romano has written on Caught Offside that Aston Villa might be out of the equation, adding that Arsenal – who also want Youri Tielemans – have been tracking Bissouma for months.

He said: “It seems a move to Aston Villa is now not happening. Arsenal have been following him for months but the priority is to understand if they can complete the Youri Tielemans deal, while Manchester United have yet to decide who will be the final priority target of the midfield.”
Bissouma joining Arsenal?
Well there are reportedly other clubs interested, like Manchester United as Romano pointed out.
But with the Red Devils in for Frenkie de Jong, and Aston Villa apparently being out of the race, then it certainly bodes well that Arsenal could get him.
The 25-year-old has been a brilliant Premier League player over the past couple of years, prompting a lot of speculation about the North Londoners getting him last summer.
But Bissouma joining Arsenal is starting to make sense again and it’ll be interesting to see what happens.
