West Ham fans have taken to Twitter to react after the club announced the signing of Thierry Nevers on a three-year deal.

The Irons have signed the 19-year-old from Reading, where he spent nine years playing in their youth ranks.

Even though he is yet to hit 20 years of age, Nevers has accumulated three years worth of experience playing Under-23 football, according to West Ham’s official website.

The club’s announcement also describes the Englishman as a ‘quick, skilful’ forward who possesses a ‘razor-sharp eye for goal’ – exciting stuff.

The Hammers have previously been made aware of his talents.

Last season, Nevers scored in the 3-3 draw between West Ham and Reading’s Under-23 sides.

It’s possible that the east Londoners have kept him on their radar ever since.

What are West Ham’s plans for him?

Nevers will go straight into the Academy of Football, where he will try his best to catch the attention of David Moyes and the first-team staff.

The youngster should take encouragement from seeing Jeremy Ngakia and Ben Johnson handed chances while Moyes roams the dugout.

Clearly, the Scot will give West Ham’s prospects game time if he thinks they’re up to the task.
