Former Everton player Idrissa Gana Gueye has told Sadio Mane, ‘now I can support you’ after he left Liverpool for Bayern Munich.

On Wednesday afternoon, after six years of service to Liverpool, Mane departed for the German champions as a ‘legend’, as the Reds posted on their Twitter account.

As soon as Mane’s exit was confirmed, a number of his teammates on Merseyside sent their well wishes to the player, including an emotional message from Mo Salah.

But Gueye, who is his fellow countryman for Senegal and a former Everton player, probably sent the best message of the lot.

The PSG midfielder posted in the comments section of Mane’s Instagram, ‘now I can support you’, added with laughing emojis from the 32-year-old, who Everton sold for £30 million in 2019 (BBC Sport).

GUEYE HASN’T FORGOTTEN HIS EVERTON PAST

The PSG midfielder isn’t donning the colours of Everton anymore, but he sure hasn’t forgotten the good times he had at Goodison Park.

The Toffees have wasted a serious amount of money over the years, but the £7 million they paid to Aston Villa for the defensive midfielder was one of their best purchases in recent times. (Sky Sports)

Frank Lampard would love a player of his ilk, at the peak of his powers, at Everton now because after surviving relegation last season, they need to refresh from top to bottom this summer.

Whilst Everton work out what they can or can’t spend this summer, their neighbours have already splashed the cash by bringing in Mane’s replacement.

Yes, Luis Diaz is probably part of that after he joined during the January transfer window, but Darwin Nunez was the one targetted once the noises of Mane wanting to leave picked up.
