Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has told the club’s official website that Marin Odegaard has finally got his message.

Arteta has said that he has been telling Arsenal attacking midfielder Odegaard to get into the opposition box more often.

The Arsenal boss made the comments about the Norway international following the win against Southampton at the weekend.

The 22-year-old scored in the 27th minute.

Arsenal won the Premier League game at the Emirates Stadium 3-0.

Odegaard has now scored four goals in the Premier League this season.

Mikel Arteta on Martin Odegaard

Arteta told Arsenal’s official website about Odegaard: “Yeah and he should have scored a hat-trick against Everton.

“He’s making it into the box much more and now he understands why we encourage him to do that.

“Because then he is a match winner – that’s the difference between a very good player and a match winner – and we need more of those players on the pitch, to win more of our games.”

Making Odegaard better

In our opinion, Arteta telling Odegaard to get into the opposition’s box is very smart.

It can only be a good thing for Arsenal.

Odegaard is a number 10, and he should score more goals and provide more assists.

The former Real Madrid player is only 22, so he has lots of time to learn new skills and add facets to his game.

A goalscoring midfielder is a big asset for any ambitious football team.

Remember how Chelsea won major titles with Frank Lampard scoring from midfield?

In our view, Odegaard, who earns £79,000 per week (Salary Sport), should contribute more to the team with goals and assists.
