Following another busy season on the ATP Tour, where Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz again stood out from the rest, Novak Djokovic is now taking a well-deserved break.
Even though Djokovic had a strong 2025, Sinner and Alcaraz were playing at a different level compared to everyone else.
Alcaraz finished the year as the world number one with eight ATP titles, while Sinner was close behind in second place with six trophies to his name.
The Italian ended the season on a high note by beating the Spaniard in the final of the ATP Finals.
Djokovic qualified for the event but withdrew before it started. He has since shared his thoughts on how these two are shaping men’s tennis at this point in time.

Speaking in Bologna ahead of the Davis Cup, Djokovic shared his thoughts with Eurosport Italia: “I don’t like to watch because I want to be there.
“I didn’t watch the whole match but I watched the first set because now, as always, it’s a tradition when they play, the first set is 7-6 in one way or another. But with a lot of attention, a lot of intensity and an astronomical level. Honestly very good.
“I watch with pleasure because really the level is very high and the rivalry of the two is a very positive thing for our sport, so they are fantastic. Also Jannik, what he’s done – particularly indoors – in the last two years, very historic.”

Sinner came out on top in another entertaining contest in that rivalry, winning 7-6 (7-4), 7-5 against the Spaniard.
He was helped by the home crowd in Turin, having already beaten Alex de Minaur in the semi-finals.
Sinner did not drop a set all tournament and also took down Felix Auger-Aliassime, Alexander Zverev and Ben Shelton along the way.
With the victory in Turin, Sinner improved his head-to-head record against his main rival to 6-10.
Alcaraz won four of the six matches they played in 2025, securing victories in the finals of both Roland-Garros and the US Open.
