Novak Djokovic pulled off one of his best-ever performances to beat Jannik Sinner and reach the Australian Open final.
The Serbian looked back to his old self as he defeated the world number two for the first time since the ATP Finals in 2023.
Djokovic had not really found top form in Australia until facing Sinner. The win over the Italian star came after a five-set battle that showed him at his absolute best.
Afterwards, he shared that he had spoken with Carlos Alcaraz before facing the world number two.

During the post-match interview, Jim Courier brought up Djokovic’s remarks following his exit from the 2025 US Open semi-final.
Courier reminded him of his comments that suggested reaching a Grand Slam final would be ‘impossible’ during the Sinner and Alcaraz era.
Djokovic replied: “I was not wrong! I said it would be very difficult but not impossible. So here we are! You are recalling it very well. I said that they were playing on a different level, so I just had to find that level.”
The focus then shifted to his upcoming opponent in the final, Alcaraz, with their match set for 1 February.
Reflecting on the Spaniard’s hard-fought win over Alexander Zverev, Djokovic said: “I did watch [the match]. I was very eager to get out on the court. What an incredible match. We tried to match that quality and intensity, but credit to both of these guys for battling it out.
“I think you guys got value for your ticket today, that is for sure! I want 10% of tonight’s ticket sales!”
The two players had a brief exchange in the locker room before Djokovic’s match against Sinner, and he shared what they discussed.
The Serbian legend commented: “I saw Carlos after the match and he told me I’m sorry to delay the start of your match. I told him I am an old man, I need to go earlier to sleep. I am looking forward to seeing him in a few days!”
This will be their first meeting since the 2025 US Open when Alcaraz defeated Djokovic in straight sets.
