While Nottingham Forest’s season so far has been nothing short of a disaster, the club still remains an excellent save option for Football Manager 2017 – partially due to the youngsters the club has in its ranks.

The popular game has seen many step into Mark Warburton’s newly fit shoes to try and revitalise Forest’s fortunes, and with some of the talent coming through, it’s easy to see why. These are the three best young players at the Reds, according to Football Manager.

Matty Cash

The 19-year-old midfielder has become a valued member of the first team in his first full season with Forest, and it seems Football Manager would agree. Cash’s rating is staggeringly high, and your assistant manager will inform you that Cash has the potential to become a key member of the first team squad. The young midfielder currently has two assists in 23 appearances, but has been played out of position more often than not. Forest fans – and FM enthusiasts – will be hoping that changes under Warburton.

Ben Brereton

Brereton’s rise at Forest has been staggering, with the 17-year-old already being linked with big money moves away from The City Ground, as reported by the The Sun. FM believes that the England U19 international will develop into a fine centre forward, and his scout report will tell you that he’s got the potential to be a key player for the team. In reality, Brereton has made 10 appearances for Forest and scored three goals, and looks set to be included in Warburton’s plans for the remainder of the season.

Alex Iacovitti

Many were surprised at the start of the season when former manager Philippe Montanier had no doubts about throwing Iacovitti into the deep end and starting him from the off, but with two assured performances against Burton Albion and Brighton and Hove Albion, fans quickly understood why. The 19-year-old Scotland U21 international is tipped to be a quality player according to Football Manager, and depending on how Forest handle their out of contract playing staff, Iacovitti could begin to make a name for himself in reality sooner, rather than later.
