Nottingham Forest fans will finally be getting the news they’ve waited so long for, as according to the Telegraph, Greek shipping magnate Evangelos Marinakis has had his takeover proposal agreed, with an official announcement possibly arriving later.
For the last five years, Forest have been owned by Kuwaiti businessman Fawaz Al Hasawi, who has incensed the Reds’ fanbase on a number of occasions, to the point that this season, the fans had enough and vocally protested against their beleaguered owner.
Claims of incompetence have been repeatedly fired in Al Hasawi’s direction, with the club declining in every league season he’s been at the helm as owner, with Forest finishing eighth, 11th, 14th, 16th and this season, 21st – only surviving on goal difference.
However, Al Hasawi’s reign is set to end, with Olympiacos owner Marinakis finally being allowed to complete the deal for the club, meaning manager Mark Warburton will finally be able to properly plan for his summer recruitment drive at The City Ground.

Including caretaker managers, Forest have had 10 different people lead the side from the home dugout in just five years – eight of them permanent managers – with Warburton the most recent occupant to step through the managerial revolving door at The City Ground.
Forest fans will be hoping for some much needed stability now that Al Hasawi’s reign is set to end, as they set to embark on their 18th season out of the Premier League.
