The Portuguese youngster has been on loan at Wolves this season.

This week saw Nottingham Forest agree a deal to sign Benfica midfielder Joao Teixeira on loan for the rest of the season.

He had previously spent the season out on loan at Championship rivals Wolves but has fallen out of favour since the arrival of Paul Lambert at Molineux.

Now Forest will be hoping that the Portugal under-21 international will be able to add some quality to the team going forward, and he certainly has the valuation that would suggest so.

Teixeira has a whopping release clause in his current contract with the Portuguese side.

According to a report from Sport Witness last year the midfield talent has a release clause in his contract of €45 million (£38.4 million).

That is a quite extraordinary sum but, as many football fans will know, this is a relatively regular occurrence in the Portuguese leagues.

Clubs will give their talented players high release clauses in case they become highly valuable their bargaining power will be increased.

Nottingham Forest fans will be hoping that they get to see performances that warrant such a price-tag.
