The Frenchman played in goal throughout his career.
Nottingham Forest manager Philippe Montanier
Nottingham Forest have been experiencing some serious issues in the goalkeeping department recently. Stephen Henderson has recently become their number one but he is now set for a long spell out of the team due to an Achilles injury. He had replaced Serbian goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic between the sticks after his erratic form.
Now Forest are playing 22-year-old Jordan Smith in goal and many a fan at the City Ground will be wondering how they ended up in this situation, considering Philippe Montanier was their former manager. The Frenchman used to be a goalkeeper.
Dorus De Vries was sold to Celtic in the summer but the only replacement brought in was Stojkovic – whose reputation for being erratic was well known.
Henderson is clearly not good enough to keep Forest high up the division and fans were wondering why another keeper was not brought in.
Nottingham Forest’s Vladimir Stojkovic
The fact that Montanier is a former ‘keeper makes his ineptitude regarding the goalkeeper position all the more baffling.
Nottingham Forest are now struggling at the wrong end of the Championship table and have a rookie in between the sticks. What is baffling is that the now departed Montanier did not do better in his expert department.
