The caretaker manager has lost three games in a week, but the problems run a lot deeper.

There was an air of inevitability around Nottingham Forest’s weekend Championship match with Sheffield Wednesday, with many Reds fans assuming defeat before a ball was kicked.

The dubious nature of the result, namely the referee’s failure to dismiss Wednesday goalkeeper Keiren Westwood for wiping out Ben Brereton, rankled many, but this further rammed home what Forest fans already knew – the club’s in serious trouble.

Fans are now venting at caretaker manager Gary Brazil, but while Brazil shouldn’t be immune from criticism – with tactical decisions and player selections dividing many – he isn’t to blame for Forest’s decline.

Forest’s decline is down to owner Fawaz Al Hasawi, whose inability to run a club has seen a list of managers as long as a giant’s arm turn down the job, purely because of the owner.

As a result, Brazil’s excellent work with the youth has been put on hold, as he’s tasked with steadying a sinking ship, and by doing so, is taking the fall for Al Hawasi’s failures.

This seems incredibly harsh on Brazil, who’s ensured the club has a tomorrow with his youth work, all because he’s in a position he shouldn’t be in. Forest need a solution, and fast.
