Nottingham Forest are currently 12 points behind Leeds United in the Championship table.

Ben Osborn has told Nottingham Forest’s official website that Leeds United’s recent slip ups prove that they are far from guaranteed to earn promotion this season.

Leeds currently lead the way in the Championship, and they are 12 points clear of Forest in the standings.

However, the Whites have lost their last two league matches on the bounce.

And Osborn insists that Forest have not given up on catching Leeds this season.

He said: “You have seen recently with Norwich and Leeds slipping up in recent games that there isn’t a really strong contender to be a definite to go up.

“We just have to stay in and around it and have a bit of a better second half of the season than we have done before.”

Despite Osborn’s remarks, Leeds have made themselves the favourites to earn promotion this season.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side are still four points clear of third placed Sheffield United, with their place inside the automatic promotion spots still looking secure.

Forest, meanwhile, are having to play catch up on the play off spots, as they are currently four points away from the top six.

Leeds are next in action against Derby County on Friday evening, while Forest take on Reading.
