Watford forward Philip Zinckernagel insists he’s “looking forward” to playing Premier League football this season amid interest from Championship giants Nottingham Forest, speaking to the club’s official website.

Bodo/Glimt won the Norwegian league for the first time in their history last November.

But, after 104 years waiting for a title-winning side to emerge, supporters of the Salten-based outfit were forced to watch in horror as it was ripped to shreds within a matter of weeks.

Having already sold Jens Petter Hauge to AC Milan, Bodo/Glimt lost the prolific Kasper Junker to South Korean football while Zinckernagel, who produced a staggering 24 assists en route to Eliteserien glory, swapped Norway for Hertfordshire.

But the grass, as they say, isn’t always greener.

Could Zinckernagel leave Watford for Nottingham Forest?

Hauge is already on his way out of Milan after tumbling down the pecking order, while Zinckernagel also faces an uncertain future as Nottingham Forest look to strike a loan deal for a man who has found game time hard to come by at Vicarage Road (Athletic).

Zinckernagel, however, isn’t going to walk away from Watford just yet, especially with Premier League football on the horizon.

“With the supporters in the stands there’s a big difference,” said the former Denmark U20 ace, who produced five assists in 20 Championship games for Watford in the second half of last season.

“To have them there even for friendly matches is so much better, and you start feeling this. Soon we’ll be playing for points again in the Premier League. I’m looking forward to it.”

Zinckernagel, then, is clearly ready to fight for his place.

A goal in the 4-1 friendly defeat against Arsenal last week should stand him in good stead for a starting berth ahead of Watford’s top-flight opener against Aston Villa on 14 August.
