Nottingham Forest will have to pay almost £16 million for Middlesbrough forward Patrick Bamford in the summer transfer window, according to TEAMtalk.

It has been reported that Forest have had an offer of £8 million for the former Chelsea prospect already turned down by Championship rivals Middlesbrough, who are claimed to want nearly double of that.

Should Nottingham Forest pay £16m?

Forest are planning to win promotion to the Premier League, and for Aitor Karanka’s side to finish in the top two of the Championship next season, they need a proven goalscorer.

Bamford knows the Championship well and has been successful in the division with Boro.

Moreover, the 24-year-old, who started his professional club football career at Forest before moving to Chelsea in 2012, has worked with Karanka at Boro.

However, a transfer fee of £16m does look quite steep, especially in the Championship.

It would be an expensive gamble for Forest to pay £16m for Bamford, but in the end, they may have to cough up the cash, as Boro have no reason whatsoever to sell and could easily just keep the former Chelsea prospect.
