Tottenham Hotspur youth coach John McDermott is said to share a ‘good relationship’ with Nottingham Forest manager Mark Warburton.

The London Evening Standard reported in April that at least one Tottenham Hotspur youngster was expected to spend the season on loan at Nottingham Forest, with the ‘good relationship’ between Tottenham youth coach John McDermott and Forest manager Mark Warburton the reason cited.
No such move materialised, however, which got us at HITC wondering whether the two clubs could make amends in January.
But which Spurs youngsters could plausibly make the move north?
Japhet Tanganga

A teammate of Forest’s Joe Worrall during England Under-20s’ successful Toulon Tournament campaign earlier this year, Tanganga, also a centre-half, would help to strengthen an area which has been something of an Achilles heel this season. The 18-year-old is captain of Tottenham’s Under-23 team, but may be keen to follow in the footsteps of Three Lions colleagues Harvey Barnes, Ronaldo Vieira, Ike Ugbo, David Brooks and Worrall by playing regularly in the Championship.
Marcus Edwards

Another player capped by England Under-20s, Edwards has continued to excel in Spurs’ Under-23s but is yet to make the first team breakthrough many are tipping him to. The 18-year-old winger has only made one senior appearance to date, but a spell at Forest could set him up nicely for next season. Warburton only has Barrie McKay and Mustapha Carayol as natural wingers, so there’s probably room for one more.
Kyle Walker-Peters

Forest’s Eric Lichaj is yet to commit beyond the end of next season, so a new right-back could be on Warburton’s agenda if the Reds are forced to cash in this winter. Walker-Peters began the season in Tottenham’s first team, but has found his opportunities limited since the signing of Serge Aurier before the deadline. There is, however, Premier League interest, according to the Sun.
