Jesse Marsch’s Leeds United and Frank Lampard’s Everton will miss out on the signing of Newcastle United striker Chris Wood to Steve Cooper’s Nottingham Forest in the January transfer window, according to 90min.
Leeds and Everton target Chris Wood to join Nottingham Forest on loan from Newcastle
The report has claimed that Wood has decided to leave Newcastle for Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest this month.
The 31-year-old former Leeds striker will sign a loan deal with Forest, who are fighting to stay in the Premier League.
The £25 million signing form Burnley (90min) was the subject of interest from Leeds as well.
Everton, Southampton and Bournemouth have also been keeping tabs on Wood, but they all will now miss out on the signing of the New Zealand international striker.
Boost for Nottingham Forest
In our view, Chris Wood is a very good striker who will enhance Nottingham Forest’s chances of surviving the dreaded drop to the Championship at the end of the season.
Remember, Leeds, Everton and Southampton all are also in a relegation fight.
Wood has scored 54 goals and created 11 big chances in 189 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.
