Nottingham Forest forward Nicklas Bendtner has recently returned to light training after an injury.

Nottingham Forest forward Nicklas Bendtner admits it was a ‘massive blow’ to pick up an injury so soon into his career at the City Ground, as per his comments on the club’s official website.

Bendtner damaged his ankle last month, while playing for Forest against Birmingham City and he has not been seen in competitive action since.

There were fears that the former Arsenal man could be ruled out for a considerable amount of time when he first picked up the injury.

However, Bendtner is edging closer to full fitness now, after returning to training, and he hopes to be back in Forest’s first-team soon.

“I am on grass again, doing drills and twisting and turning to see what the ankle can do,” Bendtner said. “It looks very positive and the important thing is that as long as you are out on the grass the comeback is not far away. Hopefully I can keep free from other injuries, let this heal and progress.

“It was a massive blow, I thought it was broken. Luckily it was not bad and I can come back now and it has given me a lot of confidence and belief.

“The thoughts I had on the pitch was far from coming back so soon, and the disappointment of working so hard at a new place with new team mates, getting to know everything and taking in all the different aspects and finally getting where you want to be, then to get that injury was very bad.”

Bendtner has made a positive start to his career at Forest, and he has already played seven times for the Midlands side.

The Danish international has scored one goal so far for the Reds, and he will be under pressure to find the back of the net quickly when he does return to fitness.

Forest’s form has dipped since Bendtner’s injury, with Philippe Montanier’s side struggling for victories.

Forest have failed to win any of their last four matches, and they have slipped down to 20th in the Championship table.
