The Stags confirmed that the Reds ace will remain on loan at Field Mill for the remainder of the campaign.
Mansfield Town have announced that Nottingham Forest striker Tyler Walker is to stay on loan for the rest of the season.
The 22-year-old joined the Stags on loan at the beginning of the season and he has been a sensation at Field Mill, scoring 13 goals in League Two and 17 overall this season, according to Transfermarkt.
With it being January, there may well have been fears among Mansfield fans about Forest potentially cutting the loan short and sending Walker to a club in a different division, as they did last year when they recalled Ryan Yates from Notts County and sent him to Scunthorpe United.
However, the Nottinghamshire club confirmed on their Twitter feed that the Championship side had given the green light for the son of Reds legend Des Walker to see out the rest of his spell at Field Mill:
Some Forest fans may have missed this update since, as of January 17, there appears to be no mention of it on their website or social media, not to mention the Stags mentioned it on January 15, the same day as Martin O’Neill’s appointment as Reds boss.
Walker’s contract at Forest runs until 2021 (official website) so they will be interested to see how he continues to get on at Mansfield in terms of his own improvement, while the League Two’s fans are bound to be delighted as he could well be their ticket out of the division.
