Nottingham Forest’s Britt Assombalonga had a day to forget against Millwall
It’s more of a notable event when Britt Assombalonga does not score these days, as was the case in the 0-0 draw at Millwall.
The £5.5 million striker has been in red hot form since signing from Peterborough in August, scoring eight times in eight games.
That included a spectacular hat-trick against Fulham on Wednesday night, but he couldn’t follow it up on Saturday in south London.
While he had three efforts on goal, the striker was isolated throughout, and failed to link up with his teammates.
Remarkably, over the 90 minutes, Assombalonga completed only one pass, from just four attempts.
| Team | Accurate Passes | Total Passes | Passing Accuracy | Touches | Total Scoring Att | On Target Scoring Att | Mins Played | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Britt Assombalonga | Forest | 1 | 4 | 25% | 20 | 3 | 2 | 90 |
The striker was only afforded 20 touches, so well did Millwall marshal him, but it remains strange why he was so anonymous.
Forest fans will forgive him this underwhelming display, for he has been sensational since joining.
Manager Stuart Pearce and his team will have to begin working on a game plan to get Assombalonga more involved, when their initial tactics are successfully stifled.
