Nottingham Forest’s David Vaughan has made four more tackles than any other player in the Championship to date.

Nottingham Forest midfielder David Vaughan has been the Championship’s top tackler so far this season, making 55 challenges on opponents in his 14 appearances so far.

Vaughan isn’t typically thought of as a midfield destroyer, but he has proven a good shield for his defence this term.

The Wales international has made four more tackles than his nearest competitor for the tackling crown – Charlton Athletic’s Chris Solly – and he has also made 12 more challenges than any other midfielder in the division.

It shows Vaughan’s importance to Forest, with the former Blackpool man starting to come back into contention this term.

Vaughan played a peripheral role last season, but he has been one of the Reds’ most consistent players since the start of this season.

Vaughan’s passing has set the tempo for his team, while he is clearly enjoying being able to get stuck into opposition teams, as Forest look to win the midfield battle.

Despite Vaughan’s good form, Forest still haven’t been able to make the start that they would have been hoping for – with the side currently sitting in 19th place in the Championship table.
