Nottingham Forest returned to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over Middlesbrough this afternoon.
After a defeat to Charlton on Tuesady night, Nottingham Forest needed to get back to winning ways against Middlesbrough today – and did just that at the City Ground.
Dougie Freedman has enjoyed a remarkable start to life at Forest, but after a defeat this week, some suggested that the bubble may have burst.
The naysayers appear to be wrong though, as Forest recorded an impressive win over promotion-chasing Middlesbrough today.
Boro, who have been patchy of late, took the lead thanks to Grant Leadbitter’s first half strike – but that was as good as it got for Aitor Karanka’s men.
On-loan Aston Villa midfielder Gary Gardner bagged yet another goal for Forest just past the hour mark, and despite Middlesbrough having a total of 26 shots on goal, Freedman’s men snatched a second half winner.
Striker Dexter Blackstock hit the winning goal just after the hour mark, with Forest claiming all three points – despite having only 33% of possession.
The result leaves Forest nine points off the play-offs, whilst Middlesbrough drop to fourth in an increasingly tight battle for automatic promotion.
