The defender has swapped Manchester for Nottingham, and will link up with Forest’s U23’s.
Nottingham Forest have made another signing as their summer transfer business continues, and have completed the capture of Manchester City defender Joe Coveney on a two-year-deal, as reported by Forest’s official website.
The 18-year-old never made a professional appearance for Pep Guardiola’s side and his time at City was halted by a few injuries, which may explain why the Premier League outfit were willing to let Coveney depart the Etihad Stadium

However, City’s loss will be Forest’s gain, and Coveney is described as a pacey defender who is also very alert upstairs as well, and frequently knows where to be in order to intercept a pass, while being very adept at playing out from the back.
Initially, Coveney will go straight into Forest’s U23’s as there is still a fair chunk of development left for the player to achieve before he can be thrown into first-team affairs, but it seems like the Reds could have yet another young gem on their hands.
Forest have already been busy in the transfer market with the signings of Jason Cummings (21) from Hibernian and Barrie McKay (22) from Rangers, as Mark Warburton seems intent on building a young and exciting team ahead of the 2017/18 Championship campaign.
As for City, Coveney is far from the only player who has departed the club this summer, with Willy Caballero, Jesus Navas, Gael Clichy, Pablo Zabaleta and Bacary Sagna all being told their contracts wouldn’t be renewed in the blue half of Manchester.
