Nottingham Forest have a big transfer budget, and should go after Newcastle United’s Dwight Gayle.

Carvalho has caught the eye in Portuguese football, and is considered an exciting prospect.
But there is an element of risk to the transfer, and Forest may well have been better off investing their money elsewhere.

If Forest do have such vast sums to spend this summer, then bringing in Dwight Gayle for Newcastle United could have been a wiser way to spend their cash.
Of course, if Carvalho fulfils his potential at the City Ground, the attacking midfielder could be a wonderful addition at Forest. However, he is totally unproven in English football, and could take a while to transition into playing Championship football.
The Reds need a striker, and Gayle, on the other hand, carries a guarantee of goals in the second tier.

The Newcastle United man has scored 36 goals in 61 appearances in the Championship over the course of his career, and was the Magpies top scorer the last time they were at this level.
With Newcastle said to be willing to sell Gayle for £10 million (Daily Mail), Forest could have got him for cheaper than Carvalho.
And bringing in Gayle may have been a safer strategy for Karanka’s side, as they look to add goals to their squad for next term.
