The Bournemouth striker would be a useful addition to the Nottingham Forest squad.

As Forest striker Britt Assombalonga edges ever closer to an exit from the City Ground, Mark Warburton will surely be lining up a list of potential replacements for the 24-year-old.

With this in mind, a useful option for east Midlands outfit could be Bournemouth hitman Benik Afobe, who is attracting interest from Wolverhampton Wanderers, according to the Daily Mail.

The 24-year-old joined the Cherries from Wolves back in January 2016, for a fee believed to be in the region of £10 million, but he has struggled to establish himself on the south coast, making just 26 league starts for Eddie Howe’s men.

His chances of receiving more regular game-time on the south coast took a further hit when Bournemouth signed Jermain Defoe this summer, and he could very well be made available, should Forest wish to make a move for him.

Adobe proved during his time at Molineux that he is highly capable at Championship level, scoring 22 goals in 46 outings, and he would surely be a useful asset to Warburton’s side.

He possesses blistering pace, and his willingness to make runs in behind the opposition defence would make the pitch bigger for the Reds’ midfield players to operate.

The former Arsenal man still has three years remaining on his current deal at the Vitality Stadium, and it is unclear how much Bournemouth would demand for his services, or even if they would entertain selling him at all.

If Warburton can somehow find a way of bringing Afobe to the City Ground, however, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance for Forest.
