If Leeds United do not offer the Spaniard a new deal, Aitor Karanka should make a move.

Leeds United fan favourite Pablo Hernandez has today made it clear he wants to remain at the club beyond the end of the current campaign. The former Spain international has been in great form yet again this season but despite his desire to remain at Leeds, he has not been offered a new contract at Elland Road yet this season.

If Leeds decide not to offer him a new deal, should Aitor Karanka tempt his compatriot to Nottingham Forest?

Clearly Hernandez is happy in England and remaining at Leeds would be his ideal solution, but if that does not come to fruition, then heading to Forest certainly makes sense.

The City Ground, like Elland Road, is a ground with plenty of history and Hernandez would surely relish the chance to play at another legendary English club.

The Spanish connection would undoubtedly be a factor if forest came knocking on his door and he would fit in perfectly to the style of play Karanka would like to implement at Forest.

He could easily fulfil the role that Gaston Ramirez once did at Middlesbrough, behind the frontman. He would also bring bags of experience to a young side, that clearly sometimes lacks leadership.

Leeds would be making a mistake if they let Hernandez go, as he surely still has plenty to offer the club.

However, Nottingham Forest would be wise to take advantage of his free agency if Leeds decide not to keep him in West Yorkshire.
