According to France Football, Nottingham Forest are keen on signing former France U21 internationals Younousse Sankhare and Remi Walter who play for Bordeaux and Nice respectively.

The report comes shortly after the BBC confirmed the arrivals of Portuguese duo Alfa Semedo and Yuri Ribeiro from Benfica, with the latter signing on a permanent deal.

Forest have been busy this summer. They opted to sack manager Martin O’Neill and replace him with Sabri Lamouchi in a move which suggests they are keen to target the foreign market.

The Reds have ambitions of promotion to the Premier League, and perhaps they feel this is the best way to achieving that goal having seen the likes of Wolverhampton Wanderers benefit from an influx of foreign talent.

France Football claim Sankhare is expected to leave Bordeaux this summer. The 29-year-old midfielder is a seven-capped Senegal international, despite previously featuring for France at U21 level.

Sankhare has a contract at Bordeaux until 2021, but he is reportedly set to leave. Olympiacos are also mentioned in the report, with the Greek club also owned by Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis.

Remi Walter, 24, is also cited as a Forest transfer target. A former 11-capped France U21 international, the holding midfielder made 19 league appearances for Nice last season.

The Reds will need to strengthen their defensive midfield position this summer with Jack Colback returning to parent club Newcastle United while ageing midfielder Adlene Guedioura turns 34 this coming November.
