Nottingham Forest are determined to sign Djed Spence ahead of Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur in the summer transfer window, according to 90min.

Nottingham Forest, Arsenal and Tottenham battle for Djed Spence

Spence, who spent the 2021-22 season on loan at Nottingham Forest from Middlesbrough, has been linked with Arsenal and Tottenham among other clubs.

90min have reported that Arsenal, Tottenham, Brentford, West Ham United, Crystal Palace, Barcelona and Bayern Munich all are keen on securing the services of the 21-year-old.

The Sun actually reported this month that Tottenham head coach Conte personally wants to sign the youngster to play at right wing-back instead of Emerson Royal.

However, according to 90min, Forest are determined to make Spence’s loan deal permanent and are willing to pay the £15 million+ transfer fee that Middlesbrough want.

What should Djed Spence do?

In our view, Djed Spence should stay at Nottingham Forest and not go to Tottenham Hotspur or Arsenal right now.

Now, of course, if Middlesbrough do sell the youngster, then they will do so to the highest bidders.

Arsenal and Tottenham are massive clubs and can blow Forest out of the water, both in transfer fees and in player salary.

However, Spence seems settled at Forest and has succeeded under manager Steve Cooper at the City Ground.

It would make sense for the youngster to continue to work under Cooper for one more season.

If Spence does well in the Premier League for Forest next season, then Arsenal and Tottenham will come back for him again next summer.
