Nottingham Forest are in a giant killing mood, having knocked out Arsenal in the FA Cup third round before ending the three-month unbeaten run of Championship leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Reds, therefore, may be disappointed that the fourth-round draw only mustered up a visit to Hull City on Saturday, but victory over the freefalling Tigers could set up another glamour tie in the last 16.
New manager Aitor Karanka will not want to lose any of the momentum gained from the shock 2-0 triumph at Molineux – his first win as Forest boss – so may stick with much of the same starting lineup.
Karanka must make at least one change, with Liam Bridcutt suspended after picking up his 10th yellow card of the season. Ben Osborn may be asked to drop deeper alongside Andreas Bouchalakis in midfield.
That opens up a space on the wing for fan favourite Barrie McKay, who has five goals and seven assists this season, but Karanka dropped the former Rangers player entirely from the squad to face Wolves.
Instead Zach Clough might be given an opportunity to impress. The 22-year-old has not delivered as expected since arriving from Bolton Wanderers last January, but has featured in both of Karanka’s games so far.
The homegrown group of Jordan Smith, Joe Worrall, Matty Cash and Ben Brereton, as well as Osborn, will continue to make up the nucleus of the team, with Everton loanee Kieran Dowell the jewel in the crown.
