Manchester United have identified Bryan Mbeumo as a key target, but may need to keep their options open this summer.
Ruben Amorim is looking to increase United’s firepower and has already put plans in motion to reshape the forward line.

Matheus Cunha has arrived from Wolves, while Alejandro Garnacho has been told he has no future at the club and more changes are expected.
The opening bid for Brentford’s Mbeumo was rejected, with the Bees holding firm on their valuation.

Even though Mbeumo is keen on the move, United may have to look elsewhere if an agreement remains out of reach.
Back in May, reports linked United with Callum Hudson-Odoi, who is entering the final year of his deal at Nottingham Forest.
Nottingham Forest’s stance on Manchester United target Callum Hudson-Odoi
Hudson-Odoi has made a strong impression at the City Ground since joining from Chelsea in 2023.
Last season, the 24-year-old scored five goals and registered three assists in the Premier League, helping Forest secure a spot in the Europa Conference League.

However, he is now into the final 12 months of his contract.
United’s interest remains, though Mbeumo remains the top target for now.
Callum Hudson-Odoi an intriguing target for Manchester United
That January interest suggests Hudson-Odoi is a serious target for United and not just speculation used as leverage for a new deal.
Hudson-Odoi brings pace and directness, qualities that could add a new dimension to United’s attack in transition.
He would also help United meet homegrown player requirements — an increasingly important consideration under Amorim’s long-term squad plans.
But the fit isn’t perfect. Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system relies on two number 10s, a positional shift away from Hudson-Odoi’s natural game out wide.
The same tactical mismatch contributed to Garnacho’s exit from Old Trafford.
However, Hudson-Odoi does have experience playing as an attacking midfielder, and Amorim may believe he can grow into the role with time.
Forest won’t panic just yet, but if talks for Mbeumo continue to stall, United’s attention could quickly turn back to Hudson-Odoi.
