Nottingham Forest Captain Henri Lansbury’s future is still unclear as Aston Villa and Derby County rival each other for the midfielders signature.
As the race for the signature of Henri Lansbury intensifies, the future of the Arsenal man has been cast into doubt, via the Sun, due to a reported rift between Forest’s incoming owners and the outgoing regime.
According to The Sun, a deal to join Steve Bruce’s Aston Villa has been all but agreed by current owner Fawaz Al Hasawi, with the player already having agreed personal terms to move to the West Midlands.

However, the new American ownership group, led by John Jay Moores and Charles Noell, have caused a major stumbling block, by getting into advanced talks to sell Lansbury to local rivals Derby County.
Derby County, who are in search of a new attacking threat from the centre of midfield, are thought to be very keen to get a deal done with the player, as they look to bolster their injury-ridden squad before their next league game against Leeds United.

Fawaz Al Hawasi, a figure who still to this day splits opinion amongst Forest fans, seems to share the sentiment of his club’s fanbase, seeking to avoid any deal with Forest’s bitter rivals.
However, it would appear that the Americans, who are still yet to really get their feet through the door at the City Ground, have failed to grasp the important historical rivalry that exists between the two clubs, by entering into discussion with the Mel Morris’ Rams.
With the player fully expected to leave the City Ground this month, this one could be more complicated than first thought.
