Premier League newcomers Nottingham Forest have added Mainz midfielder Anton Stach and PSV Eindhoven’s £34 million colossus Ibrahim Sangare to their hefty transfer wish list, according to the Daily Mail.

After a brief hold-up, it seems Orel Mangala could be officially unveiled in Garibaldi red later today. Nottingham Forest have agreed a £12.7 million fee to make the Stuttgart enforcer their 13th new arrival of the summer already, with the Belgium international travelling to England today to dot the Is and cross the Ts (Sacha Tavolieri).

And Forest, it seems, are already turning their attention to signing number 14.

According to the Mail, Steve Cooper’s play-off winners want yet another midfielder, despite Mangala’s impending arrival. Former Huddersfield Town talisman Lewis O’Brien has also signed on the dotted line.

Forest’s interest in William Carvalho is well documented. But with the Real Betis powerhouse heading to Lyon – as part of a deal that will see Houssem Aouar go the other way (Goal) – the men from the East Midlands are casting the net far and wide in pursuit of alternative options.

One such name on a transfer wish list longer than the Bayeux Tapestry that of Anton Stach. Twice capped by Germany, 23-year-old Stach played alongside Moussa Niakhate at surprise packages Mainz last season.

Strong and mobile at 6ft 4ins, Stach has been compared to the likes of Stefan Effenburg and Sami Khedira back home.

It is not certain how much Mainz want for the former Wolfsburg youngster, though Stach is likely to come a lot cheaper than Sangare. PSV’s Ivorian ball-winner is another rangy, concrete-clad, 6ft-something enforcer, a la Stach and Carvalho. Steve Cooper certainly has a type in mind.

Sangare would also be the most expensive of Nottingham Forest’s many summer signings. PSV reluctant to accept an offer lower than the 24-year-old’s £34 million release clause.

And anyway, luring Sangare away from a PSV side with Eredivisie glory in their sights will be easier said than done.

“I know from Sangare that he really wants to stay,” new head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy said earlier in July. “(Staying at) PSV is absolutely no punishment for him.”
