Nottingham Forest are now stepping up their pursuit of Keylor Navas as Steve Cooper targets the PSG glovesman.

What’s the story?

Well, Dean Henderson – Cooper’s No.1 at the City Ground – has unfortunately suffered a muscle injury which is expected to keep him sidelined for around six weeks.

As a result, Nottingham Forest are hoping to sign Navas from PSG with their interest now advancing – according to le10sport.

The French news outlet believe a “big” effort is being made to convince the Costa Rica international to join Nottingham Forest, especially in talks with Jorge Mendes – the PSG glovesman’s agent.

Le10sport add that Al-Nassr are also interested in Navas as they aim to add more superstars alongside Cristiano Ronaldo, although the Saudi Arabian outfit are not in pole position as things stand.

The 36-year-old has only made one appearance this season after losing his place in the starting XI to Gianluigi Donnarumma, so he may presumably be tempted to leave the Parc des Princes.

Keylor Navas would be a coup for Nottingham Forest

Despite his age, it would be somewhat surreal to see Navas at Nottingham Forest, especially given the fact they have only just been promoted to the Premier League.

The £198,000-a-week man is one of the greatest goalkeepers of his generation, having won the Champions League on three occasions as well as a vast amount of individual awards.

Navas was named Champions League Goalkeeper of the Season in the 2017/18 campaign, and is still capable of performing heroics in between the sticks.

In truth, it was harsh of PSG to drop him, although Donnarumma had just been named Player of the Tournament at EURO 2020 when he arrived in Paris from AC Milan.

Nevertheless, Navas kept his place for a while even after the Italy international arrived, supposedly due to the fact Lionel Messi was backing him.

It was said that the Argentine’s influence in Paris was keeping Navas in the starting XI before Donnarumma eventually took the No.1 position.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Nottingham Forest step up their pursuit of Navas.
