Nottingham Forest have joined Crystal Palace and Everton in the race to sign Andre Ayew on a free transfer.

What’s the story?

Well, it was 90min who claimed that Patrick Vieira and Sean Dyche are interested in the 33-year-old.

Now, Greek journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos has revealed that Steve Cooper also wants to sign Ayew.

Interestingly, he doesn’t just state that Nottingham Forest are keen to sign the Ghana international, but it is said that those at the City Ground actually lead the race for his signature.

Ayew is available as a free agent after leaving Al Sadd in Saudi Arabia, and according to the Daily Mail, he has flown to England to hold talks over his next move.

It would make sense if Nottingham Forest really are the frontrunners to sign the Ghanaian, as Cooper has previously worked with him at Swansea.

Under the 43-year-old’s guidance, Ayew scored 35 goals while also providing 12 assists in 94 appearances, which is a very decent return.

Throughout his career, the brother of Jordan Ayew and son of Abedi Pele has scored 153 goals in 527 games.

Everton need Ayew more than Nottingham Forest & Crystal Palace

In our view, Ayew should join Everton instead of Nottingham Forest or Crystal Palace, as he would have the best chance of regular playing time at Goodison Park.

Dyche lost one of his best forwards in Anthony Gordon without being given a replacement, so Ayew would be a good option to replace the England Under-21 international, who joined Newcastle in a £45m deal.

Having said that, the experienced forward may actually have more reasons to reject Everton than join them, with his old boss Cooper waiting for him in Nottingham, while his brother Jordan is at Crystal Palace.

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Ayew’s future should be resolved soon.
