Nottingham Forest could sign Neco Williams within days as Liverpool seemingly prepare to sell the right back.

Forest have been making some ambitious signings after winning promotion to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs.

Dean Henderson, Giulian Biancone and Taiwo Awoniyi have all joined Forest in recent days.

Mainz defender Moussa Niakhate is likely to join too whilst Morgan Gibbs-White remains a target to replace Philip Zinckernagel.

The attention will soon turn to wing backs with Max Lowe and Djed Spence returning their parent clubs – and Forest have two targets in mind.

Nottingham Forest could sign Neco Williams

The Athletic report that Forest are now working on permanent deals for both Bayern Munich’s Omar Richards and Liverpool’s Neco Williams.

It’s claimed that Forest hope to have agreements in place to sign both wing backs by this weekend.

Richards would come in on the left flank, competing with another potential new signing in Harry Toffolo, whilst Williams would be on the right side.

Williams is being allowed to leave Liverpool this summer after the Reds signed a replacement in Aberdeen’s Calvin Ramsay.

The Welsh international wants first-team football ahead of the World Cup in Qatar later this year.

Williams impressed on loan at Fulham in the second half of last season but it looks like Forest will beat the Cottagers to a deal.

This move to Forest would give Williams the chance to play under fellow Welshman Steve Cooper and join forces with international teammate Brennan Johnson.

That has to appeal to Williams, who is now ready to secure regular first-team football away from Anfield.

Hailed as a ‘machine’ by Jurgen Klopp, it’s clear that Williams is highly-regarded at Liverpool.

Yet they will certainly understand that the 21-year-old needs regular starts and Forest can offer that, with Cooper’s men now pushing for a deal in the coming days.
