Des Walker has shared that he would ‘stay’ at Rangers if he was Nottingham Forest loanee, Joe Worrall because he is playing and the manager wants him.

Aside from being dropped to the bench for a few games, centre-back Worrall has been a regular member of Steven Gerrard’s side this season.

He has produced mixed performances in the Scottish Premiership but has helped his team secure a number of memorable wins along the way, i.e. their 1-0 win over Celtic in December.

England and Forest legend Walker shared his thoughts on Worrall’s future and stated what he would do if he was in the 22-year-old’s shoes.

“It is difficult for me to decide, that is for him to decide what is best for his career and where he prefers,” said Walker, as quoted by Herald Scotland. “From my point of view, I would want to be playing football so I am going to stay where I am playing, it is as simple as that. Rangers is not a second best.

“That would be a bigger option to me if I was there playing and the manager wanted me. For me personally, where am I going? But he has to make that decision because Nottingham Forest is also a big club and are getting on. If he feels he can come back, get in that team and make a difference, he has got two options.”

During Rangers’ last Scottish Premiership encounter, their 1-1 draw with Kilmarnock, Worrall was dropped to the bench by manager Gerrard.

Following the conclusion of the international break, the Forest loanee will be hoping to get back into the starting XI as they travel to Parkhead to take on Celtic on Sunday.

The Gers are 10 points behind their Old Firm rivals in the table and they will want to take inspiration from their victory against their neighbours from December.

Nonetheless, over the course of the season, Worrall has played 19 Premiership matches for the Gers, including the full match against the Bhoys last time out [transfermarkt].
