Nottingham Forest have reportedly launched an enquiry to sign Union Berlin attacker Sheraldo Becker, who has been one of the breakout stars in the Bundesliga this season.

According to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, the Premier League side are interested in signing the one-time Leeds United target as a solution to save the City Ground side from relegation, with Becker’s contract with Union set to expire in 2024 as the German club look to expand the winger’s deal.

With seven goals and three assists in the Bundesliga this campaign, Becker has been one of the best players in the German top-flight as Union currently sit fifth in the standings as the second team from Berlin continue to surprise everyone with their incredible results and performances, with Forest now keen on signing their star forward.

Born in Amsterdam, the Suriname international is no stranger to being linked to English clubs, with Leeds one of the reported clubs interested in signing Becker back in the 2018/19 season, a move that has now seemingly come back to bite the Elland Road side given that the winger has now been labelled as ‘the best in the league’ this season for Union.

Indeed, Becker has truly hit his peak in the past few months with Union, and with Forest now interested in signing the attacker, Steve Cooper’s side could soon land on a player who has the potential to add much-needed firepower to their forward ranks in what has been a poor season for the newly-promoted Premier League side.

Forest went crazy in the summer transfer window following their promotion to the Premier League, and signs already suggest that Cooper and company will once again be dipping into the market to improve the squad for the better. And signing Becker from Union could be a game-changer for the relegation-threatened club.

After all, Becker has been one of the best players in the Bundesliga this season, and Forest signing a player who has been red hot this campaign could be the difference Cooper needs in his squad to secure Premier League safety for another year, with the winger himself also seemingly keen on a move to England.
