Steve Cooper’s Nottingham Forest are now trying to sign Trevoh Chalobah from Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea, according to a report.

Sky Sports are reporting this evening that Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Trevoh Chalobah from Premier League rivals Chelsea on the final day of the summer transfer window.

The report has claimed that Forest have “inquired” about the Chelsea defender.

Sky Sports have noted that Chalobah’s proposed move to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich is now off after the German transfer window closed.

And Forest are showing interest in the £50,000-a-week (Spotrac) 24-year-old, who can also operate as a defensive midfielder.

It may not be easy for Forest to get a deal done with Chelsea and Chalobah so late in the window.

Bayern are one of the biggest and most historic clubs in the world.

The Bavarian giants regularly win the Bundesliga title and challenge for the UEFA Champions League.

Forest almost got relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season.

And the Reds could be among the teams who are fighting for survival again in the English top flight this season.

Instead of joining Forest so late in the window, it would make sense for Chalobah to just wait until January 2024 and then see if a transfer to Bayern could happen.

Chalobah has made 45 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

The 24-year-old has scored three goals, given one assist, and kept 13 clean sheets in those games.
